The Walking Dead: Brian Blake Completed!

I finally found a couple of hours to finish the younger version of The Governor.

I am not 100% satisfied with the way his face turned out; my brushes did not agree with me today, but I decided that this will have to do!

Tomorrow I have an introductory of Sellswords & Spellslingers with Emil from work, so I shall not get to play my first game of The Walking Dead until later this week (I do not think I shall have time to squeeze it in Thursday afternoon, as I am working Wednesday night).

It was quite nice to paint some contemporary clothing for a change, but now I shall focus on getting the last character ready for Lea's Sellswords & Spellslingers party ready - it would be nice to be able to game a bit with her, soonish!

The Walking Dead: The Governor Comes Along (WIP)

Well, even with only one of my painting lamps, the light is too hard to get a proper photo - but here is how far I have gotten painting Brian Blake.

I need to work on the face, hair, weapons, and belt, and I have left out the final highlights on the sweater until last, and as I probably shall not have much painting time the rest of the week, I am hardly going to finish him before Monday or Tuesday, although I shall strive to get half an hour of hobby time squeezed in there and there.

Mantic's The Walking Dead: Brian Blake WIP

The light on my pain(t) station is a bit too harsh for nice photos, but here is one, never the less.

I started painting The Governor earlier today, after picking up Anna from English Masterclass at the 'High School' in Ringe and dropping her off for her 9th grade 'mid-term exams/tests' at her own school and subsequently picking up a few items in Svendborg.

I have finished the trousers, and expect to do the sweater and the skin tomorrow - and I think I have to adjust my expectations regarding finishing him, as the last half of this week, starting Thursday, is going to be crazy, not leaving me much time for painting.

I still should be able to get him ready for the table Tuesday or Wednesday next week, though (provided things do not escalate once more).

Prelude to Woodbury: 15" x 15" Mat Finished

My concrete/tarmac/rubble mat for The Walking Dead solo is ready, I have located my painted zombies (and survivors), plus a lot of unpainted ones, and I really just have to paint Brian Blake (or muck up a character card for one of my painted survivors) to get stuck in. I expect to get a game going next weekend, provided nothing goes completely haywire during next week...

Prelude to Woodbury: 10" x 10" Mat (Almost) Done

I think I am going to paint over and re-drybrush the light patches (they are due to some old light yellow paint from when we redecorated before moving in - yes, I recycle 😉), otherwise I think it turned out quite well. It is not quite square, I shall have to cut off a thin strip at one side, but luckily it is too wide, and the mat will still be full size after the correction.

Prepping The Governor

Got started on this bad boy this morning.

I expect to put filler on the base later today, when the glue has dried completely (or tomorrow morning at the very latest).

I am probably not going to have time for any painting before Monday, as the weather now permits me to some work in the vegetable garden, and I cannot pass on that, if I want to be able to grow anything next summer, but I hope to be able to spend a lot of hobby time Monday to Wednesday, and perhaps bot get Brian painted and do some work on the female Barbarian for Lea's Sellswords & Spellslingers party.

At least, progress is made, and that is a good thing, right?

If everything goes to plan, I might then get my first The Walking Dead solo game going Thursday or Friday...

Some Mats for Prelude to Woodbury

After clearing some space on the dinner table, I cut and painted a 10"x10" and a 15"x15" mat of painters' felt. I opted for brown on the smallest one, as I am going to need that first, thus I want it to be done as quickly as possible, and I had to 'rescue' my partly dried up grey paint before I could use it. They are still drying by the way, that felt sucks up a lot of paint, and consequently the first layer takes quite some time to dry properly.

Tomorrow, if all goes well, I should be able to drybrush at least the small mat, and prep and rebase Brian (I am going to put all the models for this game on washers, too), and I just may move him forward in the painting queue.

The Walking Dead: Prelude to Woodbury

Ever since Mantic announced they were going to launch a Walking Dead game based on the graphic novels, I have been wanting a slice of the action. Now, finally, I have purchased the solo version of the rules, and am now all but ready to get stuck in (I just have to finish painting the last member of Lea's Sellswords and Spellslingers party, then I can paint Brian Blake and use some of my already painted zombies to get started).

I need to find a source for card sleeves fitting the character cards, though, as they have quite an unusual size (88 x 126 mm), and none of my usual pushers seem to have that size of sleeves in supply.

I hope to get my jungle bases done and put away tomorrow, and then get my dinner tabled cleared so I can make the 10"x10" and 15"x15" mats required for this version of the game. I should be able to clean up and rebase Brian Blake somewhen during the weekend, getting him ready for being painted, as soon as I finish Lea's barbarian, which I should also get back to painting this weekend, or Monday at the very latest.

Osprey Wargames: Broken Legions

I got this recently, very delayed, as the first parcel from Osprey seems to have disappeared.

Never the less, here it is, and I look forward to read it.
