Fine Young Cannibals!

The next part of the North Star order I received yesterday is primarily destined to become part of my slowly evolving Congo project, but will also see action as part of, for instance, Pulp Alley Cannibal leagues to make life miserable for leagues of intrepid explorers.

I went for the 'Extreme Cannibals', as they are very cliché and fitting for use in Pulp games, too (and will probably be very fun to paint).

I do not know if they are Mark Copplestone sculpts, the North Star site has no sculptor info I was able to find (so if anyone out there knows, feel free to tell me), but I suspect they are not, as I think they lack the typical Copplestone features.

These Cannibals come without spears, so I ordered a pack of 50 mm wire spears, too, which sould last med a long time (I could have cut down some of the 100 mm wire spears I have, but I got lazy).

When you say 'Cannibals', you have to also mention the fat king/chief of the tribe, and as this pack comes with a crone witch/shaman (H. Rider Haggard reference? - I just learned that he was actually of Danish descent!?), I simply had to get it, too.

I shall probably not paint any of these until long after Christmas, as I have the seasonal minis and another bunch of Zulu warriors to keep me busy for now, but it is my intention to get them painted within an overseeable future. Of course, my Butterfly Syndrome may kick in and make me do something completely different...

Gripping Beast: The Last Bits

The Gripping Beast order I received some days ago included some livestock (manx), and some rural tools that i am going to use for some of the plastic Dark Age Warriors to make additional peasants to be slaughtered by raiders.

On top of that, I ordered a bad of 'long' wire spears (100mm) which I have sevferal uses for (banners and standards, of course, but also pikes to replace the broken pikes of Uruk-Hai pikemen).

That is now all the loot from that shipment, and as you can see, I have plenty to do for the next couple of months.

I am going to attend a private mini-convention in Esbjerg July 1st-3rd, am going to bring some Blood Eagle fun to the fray, and hop to be able to bring at least the Vikings warband along with some Lord of the Rings warbands.

Dane Axes!

Got a parcel from Gripping Beast in the mail today.

Among other Dark Ages stuff, I had ordered some Dane Axes to convert some more ofmy Gripping Beast plastic Viking Hirdmen into axe-wielding killing machines (a bit too few options for that in the box).

I think I should now have more than enough for both the God of Battles unit I have planned, and plenty for Anglo-Danes for SAGA as well.

I have done a lot of hobby work today (rain has been pouring down all day), although I have not put a single lick of paint on my vikings.

I really hope that I can find som time for painting this evening and tomorrow, 'cause I think I have been stalling it a wee bit too long, now.

Well, as long as something gets done...
