Vacation 2016 - Days 11, 12, and 13

On Day 11, there was a flamenco spectacle at the Camping. Of course my shitty photography skills did not fully capture the atmosphere, but never the less...

Day 12 did not bring much apart from sun and relaxation. And sangria on the rocks.

I can heartily recommend this sangria - the relatively high alcohol percentage does that it actually tastes like an alcoholic beverage, even when thinned by melting ice.

Nothing makes my fatherly heart swell with pride as when my daughters immerse themselves in literature, and Anna was - as always - chewing her way through fantasy novel after fantasy novel, and below you can see she found a spot in the light under the lamp post outside our camping lot.

Day 13 was also pretty uneventful. We packed up a lot of our equipment for leaving the site on the next day, and all of a sudden this appeared on the sky:

Our stay in Malgrat de Mar was drawing to an end, and the next day we were going to drive north to France and Carcassonne in Cathar country (Languedoc).

Vacation 2016 - Day 10, Beverages and Wellness

Another lazy day in Catalunya!

True to tradition, I tried out some local produce.

I Spain, they understand the need for volume when it comes to beer bottles.

I liked this one - normal strength 'lager', but with a stronger and fuller flavour than its average Danish counterpart.

I did not drink it all in one go, by the way, but spread it over several meals.

The brewery has existed since before the civil war, and I think it is going to be around for many years to come!

We also tried some red wine, and as far as I remember it was very nice (everything tastes good with all that fresh air sunshine, but I would have remembered if it was off).

White wine from Germany, well cooled, very nice!

This one is very nice, too! Highly recommendable. Serve well cooled!

More 'local' stuff, 1½ liters! I liked it!

We also took an evening trip to Malgrat de Mar (the camping is situated just on the outskirts of town), and this sightseeing 'train' was one of the first things we noticed.

Who would not want to sit in that chair?

The main pedestrian street of Malgrat. The mediteranean atmosphere is undeniable!

The rest of the family got their feet picked by fish.

An evening impression. I am still absolute shit at taking pictures in the dark, really need to take a class or something...

To coclunde a fine vacation day, we had a nice dinner at a traditional restaurant.

Vacation 2016 - Day 9, The Day-Trip to Barcelona, Part 2

Next stop was La Sagrada Familia.

Sadly, we should have bought tickets online, as the admission was closed for non-ticket holders when we got there, but I took the opportunity to take same photos of the outside.

Hopefully, next time we visit, the construction of the cathedral will be complete, and we shall get inside to marvel at Gaudi's weird architecture.

Of course, we had to capture the moment when we were there.

The last mandatory stop on the bucket list: The Rambla.

The famous market at the Rambla:

Plaça de Catalunya.

Vacation 2016 - Day 9, The Day-Trip to Barcelona, Part 1

We took the coast train from Malgrat de Mar to Barcelona in the morning, to avoid traffic and parking issues, but I really cannot recommend it - it is a trip of about 50 km., and it takes about three times as long as travelling by train from Svendborg to Odense, in a stuffed train with no air-conditioning.

We were pretty boiled, when we arrived in Barcelona, and had to stay a bit in the relative coolness of the station, re-hydrate, and orientate us regarding getting to our planned destinations.

After a while, we startted walking through the city, staying in the shadows as much as possible, taking small breaks to eat and drink when getting the opportunity.

Some pines and palm trees - and a good impression of the hotness.

Our first destination can be spotted in this photo.

Here we are a bit closer.

I think you may have guessed by now...

I could not visit Barcelona without without also seeing the home of one of the really great European football clubs.

I forgot to turn on the flash - but this is my family in Camp Nou.

Now follows a series of photos from the trophy exhibition.

The stairs down to the collectibles/memorabilia store. Their prices are too steep for my wallet...

Couple of last views when leaving Camp Nou.
