2017-07-10, Vacation 2017, Day 7: Driving South

Soon after leaving the camping site near Kalmar we happened upon this field, and Anna insisted on taking some pictures.

Anna had wanted her picture taken in a blooming lavender field in France, but we were there too late in the year for that, and this would have to do instead.

Later in the day, we made a stop at a rest area which happened to be right next to a historical monument.

Nice arrangement with table and benches!

We also spotted what I think is a red kite.

Some historical information at the rest area.

The monument for the Peace in Brömsebro (1645), commemorating a treaty between Sweden and Denmark made on a small island in the border stream.

And the nearby water mill.

Anna wanted to explore further, but realized there wasn't more to see right here.

This was our last camping trip with the 1963 Eccless caravan; the following autumn we purchased a CI Wilk deLuxe from 1989 - but more about that in due time.

That evening we decided to spend another night in Sweden, more precisely at a camping site in Falsterbo.

We ended our visit to Sweden with a meal at a local restaurant.

2017-07-09, Vacation 2017, Day 6: Öland

Not many pictures from our visit to Öland. We mainly walked a bit in the large area known as 'Stora Alvaret'. more precisely near the location known as 'Möckelmossen'.

Had I researched Öland a bit better in advance, we would surely have visited some of the castle ruins present, and quite certainly 'Eketorps Borg', a reconstructed Iron Age fortification. Well, we shall have to do that on another occasion.

2017-07-08, Vacation 2017, Day 5, Kalmar Part 5, and Evening at the Camping Site

After Kalmar Castle we walked the city a bit to find something to eat.

At the diner, in the bathroom, I made a funny observation. An electrical socket ... in the ceiling ...?

After the meal, we noticed something furry moving around in the many small park-like areas (lotsa pics of the wabbits, as they are a very uncommon sight where we live).

Cute old local train.

The water tower (gamla vattentornet).

Geese at the waterfront.

Monument for the ship 'Kalmar Nyckel'.

More geese - and Lea.

After arriving back at the camping site, I snapped a few shots of the surroundings.

And this concludes the fifth day of our 2017 Vacation.

2017-07-08, Vacation 2017, Day 5, Kalmar Part 4

As I have absolutely NO new gaming stuff to show off today, I think it is about time that I resume my tales about our vacation travels.

The last post, we left my my daughters standing next to some medieval suits of armour at Kalmar Castle, and I have even more photos from that visit:

Then, we left the castle to find something to eat.
