Attic Attack IV: Day 2, DreadBall

A couple of guys from Svendborg arrived Saturday morning to try out DreadBall. My male Corporation team was pitted against some Veer-myn brought by Tobias, who arrived from Odense with Ulrik, and Tobias did the rules teachings and guided the rookies through the match.

I think the game ended 3 up for the rats, and both rookies seemed to have enjoyed the experience. Maybe we shall see a small tournament in the overseeable future...?

Åcon: Friday Late Night Gaming

I did not play any more games Friday, apart from Nuclear War, of which I have not got any pics (it is a card-based game without much to show).

On another table, though, some Deadzone was played.

And some of the guys had a splatter-fest with Zombicide: Black Plague

Deadzone II, Unboxing

I backed Deadzone II in 2014 (I think), and now it finally arrived.

I shall be reading rules when not constructing Blood Eagle warbands, painting Vikings, blogging, walking the dog, gardening, jogging, cooking, sleeping, and being at work...

DreadBall: The Referee!

So, finally the last piece missing (except, now I need to paint a second team to do demo-games).

I did a fairly simple paint job on her:

  1. Base Coat, Vallejo Polished Gold + Black
  2. Badab Black wash
  3. Vallejo Polished Gold heavy drybrush
  4. Vallejo Polished God + silver light drybrush.
  5. Black touch-up on eyes and hip joints
  6. Eyes light grey
  7. Cords in hip joints blue, green, and red.
  8. Touch up around the eyes with Vallejo Polished Gold, and the Vallejo Polished Gold/Silver mix.

No excuses for postponing adding the transfers, then - I shall have to order some MicroSet and MicroSol very soon.

Expenses, expenses...

Let's Have a Ball!

Nothing special, not even a good paint job, but after completely messing up my first attempt to paint the DreadBall, I went for a very simple approach.

I may play around with some green wash before varnishing, but I am not sure I dare do so.

BioCorp Buccaneers: Final Line-Up!

Yes, finally, here they are in all their red glory.

I stilll have to paint a ball and a referee, and procure some MicroSet and MicroSol for working with the transfers, but the worst part is over now (I think).

BioCorp Buccaneers: Final Player of the Initial Line-Up!

Introducing, fresh out of the gym:

BioCorp Buccaneers #05, Steve Reeves

Took me over a month (counting x-mas, admittedly, but still...) getting the whole team coloured up!

BioCorp Buccaneers: First Guard Done (finally)!

I'm really fed up with painting these, and all the while I'm re-directing much of my hobby-time into the Pulp revival project I make only very slow progress.

But, here he is:

Buccaneers #04, John Grimek

BioCorp Buccaneers - Need Muscle!

The Buccaneers are getting in shape. The Guards are still working out in the gym, but the rest of the team was doing sprint/reaction excercizes.

BioCorp Buccaneers: Striker Number 3!

Buccaneers #03, Wally West

The 'new kid' on the team, often only entering the pitch late in the match (when Garrick or Allen - or both - are injured), West often finds himself relying on Jacks to deliver assists for crucial late strikes, thus probably the Striker in the League with the fewest catches.

BioCorp Buccaneers: The Team is Growing

A little 'family photo'. The 3rd Striker is WIP at the moment, but I hope to finish him today, and then it is time to get the two Guards done...

BioCorp Buccaneers: Striker Number 2!

Finally got this guy off my pain(t) station.
Meet BioCorp Buccaneers #02, Barry Allen.

I shall probably need to do something about that 'nasal' region before varnishing...

BioCorp Buccaneers: Another Jack Done!

Finished painting this today:

Meet #07: Jimmy Nicholson

Painted almost exactly like #06, nothing new under the Sun, here.

BioCorp Buccaneers: First Player Done!

The Future Wars Painting Club at the Lead Adventure Forum is not quite over, yet, so I managed to get my first DreadBall player ready as entry number 92.

BioCorp Buccaneers #06, Jaime Bonaventura.

When the entire team is done, I shall add numbers (transfers) to the circular back plates.

I shall also try to find some tranfers with tiny skull-and-crossbones for a team badge, going on the black circle on the chest (and possibly to the shoulder-pads as well)

Colours Used:

Primer: White

Main Armour:

  1. F British Redcoat basecoat
  2. OC Devlan Mud wash
  3. F British Redcoat drybrush

Armour Pads:

  1. Black basecoat
  2. Black+OC Shadow Grey 1/2 mix light drybrush (+ a few light solid strokes for highlights)

Face Mask:

  1. White
  2. Black 'eyes' and 'breather', white 'teeth'
  3. OC Devlan Mud wash
  4. White highlight
When I've added tranfers and/or painted team badges, I shall give the minis a good heavy layer of varnish to protect them from wear and tear; DreadBall is the kind of game I may on occation play with people who are not accustomed to handling painted minis,, so better safe than sorry!
