Cave Troll Rebased

I also managed to get Tiny's base finished for tomorrow's game.

I expect him to be found in the midst of the action, probably taking on Boromir and/or the Knight of Dol Amroth, and it will be interesting to see how he fares against those Human heroes!

In about 12 hours, Emil and I should be stooped over the Age of Fantasy Skirmish table in Argonor's Attic, rolling dice and probably enjoying a beer or two, and with 250 points a side, a game probably lasts for between one and two hours, which would give us time for a re-match if we feel like it.

But that is for tomorrow - now I shall soon be turning in for the night to get some sleep and be fit for tomorrow's ordeal!

Rebasing a Mordor Troll WIP

I did not paint this big fella; he was part of one of the big lots I bought several years ago, but now that we are playing Age of Fantasy Skirmish, he is likely to see some action with my Mordor Orcs, so I thought it wise to get him based on a large washer for added transportability (stability when transported in a box with a magnetic sheet at the bottom).

They Have a Cave Troll!

For Thursday, when I have an appointment with Emil for playing Age of Fantasy Skirmish, I am re-basing this Cave Troll to use as support for my Moria Goblins.

Emil is going to command a Gondor patrol lead by Boromir, so I thought I might need to pack a bit of punch for the encounter, as Boromir and the Knight of Dol Amroth would otherwise surely just cut a swathe through the Goblin ranks.

I may not be able to finish the process in time, as I have to attend classes the next couple of days, but I think I should be able to at least get the base base-coated and covered in sand, so it will have to do as it is for that particular game.

I am also re-basing some Goblins, but I do not expect to use other than the Boss (metal) Goblin - the rest of the hunting party must stay on their slottas for now, while I work on another batch to take their place.

C29, Culchan: Carnivorous Bird

This very old Citadel mini is now finally about to get some love, due to my Paleo Diet project(s - plural, because I work on both an African as well as a Pre-Historic setting).

I should be able to get it cleaned and based relatively fast, as soon as I have finished cleaning and basing the three boars I posted a couple of days ago.

I am still eagerly awaiting the Victrix shipment, but until it gets here, I can just continue working on small side projects like this alongside Operation Cleansweep...

Star Wars: Latest Toy Acquired

When we were browsing a shopping mall in Odense to find some presents for Anna's birthday tomorrow, I stumbled on this discounted RotJ Luke Skywalker figure. At about €7/£6/$8, I could not resist getting it for displaying in the study/office/hobby room.

I was not sure whether or not to use flash, so I took a photo both with and without it.

It is about 45 cm high.

And, yes, there is a lightsaber, I have not unpacked it, yet.

Rebasing Progress WIP

Found time to pull out the wall filler, and got a good layer smeared on the bases of these. Hopefully, I can finish building up the bases tomorrow, so I can move the minis along, away from the prepping station, leaving space for working with some of the other clutter that has built up there, and probably was part of the reason I lost my mojo a year ago, and only got stuck back in aboout a month ago.

Rebasing Giant Skeleton WIP

A couple of years ago, I bought a Khemri job lot army with a lot of almost painted skeletons, and a few wholly painted centerpieces.

This Giant Skeleton was one of those, and I have just relieved it of its plastic base, and glued it to a large washer instead.

It will get some filler on the base alongside the other ongoing re-basing projects, and when done should find use in a lot of different settings and genres, just like Nagash.

My prepping station is beginning to clear up a bit along the edges, and I think that I should actually have space for working with one of the larger Bones models in a week or so - if I can keep up steam and get some more models cleaned and based at a reasonable rate.

Ancient Lead: Nagash WIP

More than 15 years ago, I bought a fairly large Undead job lot from a friend who wanted to get rid of his Undeads after his first game with them, where he lost in the first turn by having Nagash killed by an Empire cannon, and his army crumble to dust.

Most of the old army has since been turned into my God of Battles Lords of Undeath army, but I still have some bits and bobs, mainly metal, stowed away here and there, and the original Nagash model was among those remnants.

The parts had separated, and the mold lines had not been cleaned very thoroughly, so some weeks ago I set about getting him in shape for a new coat of primer. In the meantime, my mind has been set on other things, but today I gnashed my teeth and got the last work done in one setting.

I think it has taken me about three hours in all to get him to his current state (new basing, et al), but now I can put filler on his base and soon get him primed.

My main motivation for getting him table-ready is to use him as a Death God for OGAM, but he shall see service in a great many different games and genres, such as Broken Legions, SS&SS, Strange Aeons, Pulp Alley, and maybe even God of Battles.

Well, enough about that for now, and back to the painting or prepping station!

Reaper Bones: Assorted Fantasy Stuff

Yesterday, I could finally pick up my parcel from Miniatures Giant, almost a month after I ordered (it only took it about a week to reach Denmark, the rest of the time it was held up by PostNord and Danish customs).

The Spiders, Trolls, and Mindflayer are firstly for SS&SS, while the Brass Bull is meant for rules like Broken Legions and OGAM (but can probably also figure in SS&SS), and the Fire Giants I intend to use as deities for OGAM (the Bodyguard for an army of LotR Dwarves, and the Princess probably for an African warband).

Fenris should be self-explanatory, I think.

But, really, they are all usable for multiple purposes, so all in all an interesting purchase!

So, instead of sitting here at the keyboard, I should be painting instead... 😏

Where Wolf? Here, Wolf!

Another biggie I have had on the prepping station for far too long is this Werewolf.

I put extra filler on the base, and also noticed that I need to rough up the edge of the washer (for the paint to adhere better).

He should be usable for a lot of games/settings when I get him done, SS&SS among others, so I think it is about time to get him ready for painting.

I have more than enough minis to paint for the rest of Spring, it would seem, so I hope my back eases up a bit, soonish, so that I can actually sit down at the painting station for a couple of hours in a row, instead of, like today, just doing some basing on one mini at a time - things take forever that way...

Troll!

A couple of years ago, I bought some second hand lots of Citadel LotR minis, and among those was this painted Mordor Troll, which had lost its right hand and its left arm.

I have now glued the parts back on, and the big guy is ready to do service in games needing Trolls - like Sellswords & Spellslingers, which I expect to be playing quite a bit.

When a Good Man Goes to War...

I have had this old big Grenadier fella standing cleaned on my prepping station for ages, but now I think it is soon time to get him painted.

I slabbed some filler on the base, roughed up the edges of the large washer, and today finally primed him along with another two batches.

He is going to serve multiple purposes - actually I can see a lot of uses for him, so getting him ready for the table might work as a catalyst for getting back into some stalled projects.

I need to paint Lea's Sellswords & Spellslingers party, and at least some of Sharpe's Chosen Men, first, so I shall not commence work on him right away, but I actually look forward to painting him, as it is an interesting piece with a lot of potential for a nice paintjob.
