LotR: Frodo's Quest - Invisible Frodo

I dug this out for a little project I have going on.

It is kind of a side project, only requiring a fistful of minis, but I may become the start of a linked series of LotR-mania, only time will tell...

I have no idea what the NIB value would have been on the collectors' market, and I really do not care the slightest - I bought this to game with it, and now I am finally putting it to its intended use!

So, out of the blister it came, and in the meantime, I have begun basing it - at the same time as a set of second hand Fellowship Frodo and Samwise that I also have to get ready for this, for now, little side quest.

I an going to paint them with Citadel Contrast Paints (metal Frodo and Sam, that is), to learn how they behave (the Contrast Paints, that is) - I can always strip and repaint them when I have some 'properly' painted versions ready for the table.

I expect to have an update on this project one of the next days; I have a gaming session tomorrow afternoon, so I am not sure whether I shall have time for reporting any progress, but I plan to apply the kaizen principles to it, so that it does not get bogged down.

I have not yet decided which ruleset to use - I may even go back and apply the actual LotR/Hobbit/Middle-Earth SBG rules with some house rules added, but that is yet to be seen.

Moria Goblin Characters NIB

I found these today (an also the War Drums), and I have already broken one of the Shamans open and started cleaning it up, as the last game of Age of Fantasy Skirmish told me that I have to bring a Wizard to the table.

I had to leave it half done, as the grass in the backyard needed mowing, and the weather was quite summerly today, and this evening we went to watch Dark Phoenix, but I expect to have plenty time for tinkering with little metal men tomorrow.

Napoleonics: 28mm French

My Victrix order included some nappies, too. I have Sharpe's Chosen Men sitting on cork handles, ready to be painted for my 28mm nappie skirmish project, but I thought I might need some adversaries for solo play, for if and when my opponents are not available. When I have painted three or four Riflemen, I'll turn my attention to the French, and build a similar group to play against by myself.

C29, Culchan: Carnivorous Bird

This very old Citadel mini is now finally about to get some love, due to my Paleo Diet project(s - plural, because I work on both an African as well as a Pre-Historic setting).

I should be able to get it cleaned and based relatively fast, as soon as I have finished cleaning and basing the three boars I posted a couple of days ago.

I am still eagerly awaiting the Victrix shipment, but until it gets here, I can just continue working on small side projects like this alongside Operation Cleansweep...

Star Wars: Latest Toy Acquired

When we were browsing a shopping mall in Odense to find some presents for Anna's birthday tomorrow, I stumbled on this discounted RotJ Luke Skywalker figure. At about €7/£6/$8, I could not resist getting it for displaying in the study/office/hobby room.

I was not sure whether or not to use flash, so I took a photo both with and without it.

It is about 45 cm high.

And, yes, there is a lightsaber, I have not unpacked it, yet.

GoB: NIB Skeleton Command - Before and After

Broke out another old Citadel blister today, putting the contents to thier intended use.

Felt just as good as the other one.

I need the standard bearer and the hornblower for my fourth Skeleton Horde, and the Wight/Leader will be painted at a later point, and used as a Blacksoul, possibly member of a Guardians of Midnight unit. But you probably knew that I would write that.

GoB: March of the Ancient Bones

As promised, here is a post related to gaming!

Earlier today, I finished cleaning up the rank and file of my third Skeleton Horde, and I promptly got them undercoated. My homemade spray station with with the old extraction hood did sterling service, as always!

Here they are in all their chalky glory! The leader is absent as I filled his washer base hole with... filler, which had to dry, before I can file the excess away.

Next phase is glueing sand on the bases, then blocking in colour on all areas not going to be bone-coloured - I am not sure if I am going to start doing it tomorrow, or if am going to spend most available time working on the other unit, will depend on, what I feel like doing...

GoB: Skeleton Horde - Now with Music

Got the drummer cleaned up and glued to a washer - and some filler on the base of the standard bearer. I shall let the glue settle a bit on the drummer, and then put some filler on his base later this evening. 🙌

GoB: Basing and a Standard

This unit is now a couple of steps closer to completion. I have put the last filler on the bases, and in the holes of the washers, and I have cleaned up and glued to a washer the standard bearer. I am not a big fan of this stance, and, sadly, the other command group blister has the same model 😞

In a few minutes, I am going to put filler on the base of the standard bearer, and maybe start cleaning up the drummer.

I now just have to remove the excess filler from the rank-and-file models' bases (and maybe clean up a couple of them), then they are all ready for some white primer. I think I may reach the primer stage during this weekend, but I am helping Duregar/Ulolkish moving house tomorrow, so I am not certain, how much hobby time I shall be able to squeeze in before Sunday.

GoB: Raising Hell!

As announced, I am going all-in on getting another two Skeleton Hordes ready for the table as soon as possible.

So, today I pulled out my trusty Dremel, and set about killing slotta-bases by the dozens.

Here is a unit of spear-armed levy, most of them fully ready for the first helping of filler to the base.

And the second unit, peasant rabble, bound to do the biddings of their new liege. The incantations clearly were too weak, and the Necronomicon will be consulted once more.

Some might say, I just poured a lot of money into the drain, but I did not buy these to make collector's money on them. NIB for over 20 years, until this afternoon where the seals of protection were broken, and these long dead warriors brought into the world of the living once more.

The Wight/Commander of this command group.

He is not going to be used with any of these units, instead I may paint him up to become part of a Guardians of Midnight unit.

Anyway, I am going to get him cleaned up and based, and when I have five more done that way, They even may get painted...

Old Citadel Ethereals

I am going to pop open this old blister in a few days, to flesh out a unit of Guardians of Midnight for my GoB Lords of Undeath army.

Oh, the joys of rummaging through one's purchases of olden glory!

I am only going to use the 'guy' with the double-mace raised over his head, as I have already a primed version of the pointing one with the crown to use as leader, and I am going to use a muisisian from a Skeleton Command Group as the 6th and last member of the unit - and I already have 3 of these floating wights/wraiths/whatever painted up since ages (how very appropriate).

But, first I have to get two Skeleton Hordes finished that I have in the works (the first is close to being finished), and get my Necromancer painted up so he can join the ranks and - hopefully - give my army some needed staying power by conjuring up the support of our fallen enemies.
