Vacation 2015 - Day 14 and 15, The Long Road Home

We took the motorway from Luzern to Basel, and from there we enterd France - on the Bastille Day (July 14th), so while driving through the countryside of Alsace, we hardly saw a living soul.

We followed D52 and D20 until we were just south of Strasbourg, then crossed the Rhine into Germany.

Lunch in France
We hit the Weinstraße, and it was my plan to show the girls the Dürkheimer Fass, a two-storey high barrel, built in 1934, housing a restaurant - but we simply could not find the way into Bad Dürkheim, and finally decided to give up, and postpone the visit to next time we pass the area (which may well be in 2016, when we drive to Spain!).

There was a LOT of traffic in the area around Mannheim, Mainz, Wiesbaden, and Frankfurt, and we were delayed to an extent where it would have been difficult to find a camping site for the night. Thus, we decided to det the GPS on 'Drive Home' and get as far north as possible during the evening and night.

As it happened, we were VERY close to the Danish border when the sun rose over northern Germany, and we had no problems staying on the road until we arrived In Kværndrup.

Lots of experiences richer, after a fourtnight of sunshine and warm days (and nights), we finally were at home again (and I, for one was looking forward to meeting my regular bed, again, especially after more than 24 hours on the roads of 4 European countries).
