New GoB Project: 15mm Xenomorphs/Aliens (T'lekkan Proxies)

I recently plunged in and ordered a bunch of Aliens from Khurasan Miniatures, and Pendraken Miniatures respectively.

The Khurasan 'Space Demons' arrived a couple of days ago:

I did not unpack the critters until today, as I was busy preparing for a game of JDMG Tuesday (which will be reported soon), but Took a closer look, and started prepping and basing the winged creatures, which are going to stand in for 'Princelings'.

They are very nice sculpts, but 2 of the 3 different poses have problems with the undercut for the right arm, so some carving and filing is required.

I hope to find time for doing the last 2 of the flyers tomorrow, and maybe get some wings attached, but I am starting my 5-night work week tonight, and time is limited, as I also have to attend to the real world...

Making Some Arrows...

A couple of pics of Lea varnishing five arrow shaft for some home-made arrows.

The other five shafts are Anna's, and although they started working on these arrows May 1st, they have not yet finished the shafts; the arrows need to be sanded with very fine grain sand paper in between 4-5 layers of varnish, and it is difficult to find time in between homework, school choir, time with schoolmates, riding, and other leisure activities on school nights, and in the weekends we often do something away from home.

Furthermore, Lea strained her ankle in the garden trampoline last week, and has not been able to work in the workshop.

Anna, on the other hand, has carved nocks, and added the second layer of varnish to hers. We use the 'self-nock' method, to avoid glueing plastic nocks to our wooden arrow shafts

GoB Viking Army (Blood Gorged Proxies) WIP 8.

I got the Dark Age Warriors primed yesterday, before going to the 150th Anniversary of my childhood school (meeting a lot of old faces).

No further progress to report, as the nice spring weather called me to the garden most of today.

The Attic Gets Cosier!

The first leather armchair for the Cosy Corner in Argonor's Attic has been acquired!

I also have an appointment to pick up another tomorrow.

They have cost me DKK 50,- each (plus a bit of petrol/gasoline), so all in all a bargain for a couple of comfy chairs for patrons to sit and read rules, sip cold drinks, or having a cup of coffee/tea.

I do not expect to organize Attic Attack III until after the summer holidays, as my vacation is very early this year, and I need to prepare a lot of things for a camping trip to Northern Italy.

GoB Viking Army (Blood Gorged Proxies) WIP 7.

My collection is growing!

I picked up this from the local post outlet (at SuperBrugsen). I plan to use this as my camp for the Viking army, when it has grown to a size to fight on its own.

I now need to find some models of Oseberg tents, and buy some boxes, barrels, and civilians to use as the baggage train.

GoB Viking Army (Blood Gorged Proxies) WIP 6.

Finally, these two units are ready for priming (although the filler on the bases must be left to dry, first).

I should be able to get some white primer on them one of the next days, White, because I am going to quick-paint them with 1 layer, shaded with a Devlan Mud wash (or the equivvalent). I find this the only way I can paint units for an army within an acceptable time-frame. Small elite units may still be treated with the whole palette (3-4 layers), but bread-and-butter units like these warriors just have to gear up and get ready for battle!
