Denethor tried to soften up the Dwarven unit, but was coutered (pairs count as 4 times a single card's value, thus 12).

The Dwarven Warriors move into the gap between the Minas Tirith units.
The Dwarves are now in the Threat Area of the Warriors, so wouldn't be able to flank attack the archers.
