2017-07-06, Vacation 2017, Day 3: Astrid Lindgren's World, Part 9

On our way out of the theme park, looking for a mailbox, we passed through what seems to be a full size version of Troublemaker Street.

And this concludes our visit a Astrid Lindgren's World. Well worth a day if you find yourself in Småland!

Easy Living in the Garden

This year, we are using the patio in the front yard a lot more - so I have moved the mexican clay oven out there for the less warm evenings. We are barbecuing for supper almost every day when the weather permits it, and we have had quite a few nice evenings.

This evening, there was almost no wind at all, so the rackets were in use.

The Garden this Spring

The sewers all over thown are being renovated this summer, and the contractors asked for permission to use our backyard for redirecting soms drainage water while parts of the system were beinng worked on..

You do not see steam erupting from sewers every day!

We have an abundance of Forget-me-Nots behing the house and garage.

I got a load of cobblestones to finish (I hope) the lawn edging project this summer - but I also got some granite chippings for the driveway beside the garage, and that project kind of escalated, so I have not yet begun laying down the cobbles.

The driveway/parking space after spreading the first load of chippings.

Because of the blasted slugs and birds, we decided to put our strawberries in raised beds with nets. The slugs also killed(!) my horse radishes by constantly eating all the green parts of the plants, so we have gotten some new plants and planted them in a raised bed beside the veggie garden (to be seen in a later post).

Lea's confirmation was postponed to August, due to the Corona pandemic. We decided to give her one of her gifts in advance, as it would be a bit pointless to get a garden trampoline just in time for winter.

As per the headline, more images from the theme park.

I think this represents something from 'Simon Small':

Painting Pirates for Ã…con: The Chinaman

Well, I was, but I just learned today that the Pirate game at Ã…con is cancelled...

But here is the Oriental part of Captain Etton's crew.

There is something wrong with his forehead in this pic, I have to check if it is an actual painting error or just a speck of dust.

I have another two WIPs, but, frankly, my motivation for painting them has vanished into thin hot air, and next week or so I think I am going to spend most of my leisure time working on the driveway.

Ooops, I just noticed that I forgot to paint the buckle! Well, he will go back on the pain(t) station at a later point.

Here is the entire crew so far. I wonder if it will ever grow any further...

From this picture it is clear to me, that the thing on the Chinaman's forehead in the first pic must have been dust - or perhaps a bit of flock. Well, well...

2017-07-06, Vacation 2017, Day 3: Astrid Lindgren's World, Part 7, Katholt, and then Some

After the Cherry Valley, we arrived at a smaller than life copy of Katholt (Emil of Lönneberga).

After Katholt we spend some time at this playing/resting area.

This bird is not dead - it is just sunbathing.

The girls found their way to the upper floor of one of the little houses.

As you can probably see from the pictures, it was a very hot day - and it had not yet come to an end!
