Maybe the Driest Summer Ever

Here you can see one of the reasons that I do not paint as much as anticipated. It is summer in Denmark, as I can hardly remember it has been summer before - it is hot and dry, and much of my day is spent watering the tennis clay courts, while the late afternoon and evening is spent watching the World Cup while moving the garden sprinkler in between.

Another reason is that the school holidays have begun, so I have both my daughters at home most of the day, and I do not like to withdraw to my man-cave when I can spend time with them. Well, at least I can finish the Greek archers in a couple of days when we get back from France...

Attic Attack 2018 - Cancelled

The rehab of Anna's knees (she had surgery on both) has taken too much of my time the last six months, and I do not feel up to preparing the attic for a gathering this summer, as it would mean a lot of work just after returning from our summer vacation.

Hopefully, next year will be less stressful, and I can get the attic (and the garage) set up for a weekend of fun and games...

As always, it is still possible to arrange games in the attic with me whenever I am home.

New Window for the Garage Attic

Aboujt a week ago, last Sunday, Kevin and his brother gave me a hand with the new window for the garage attic.

I purchased the window two years ago, but the family landspeeder then needed some serious repairs, and I could not find the money for hiring a carpenter to do the job (and I dared not make an attempt on my own).

But when Kevin and I played Black Powder a month or so ago, and it was very hot, I mentioned that I already had a window to replace the old, not very functional, one, and as it turned out, he and his brother had just changed the windows in Kevin's home.

About 1½ hour well spent, and Argonor's Attic can now get vented whenever needed!

This will be a big help the next time I arrange Attic Attack, as the attic has a tendency to get very hot when the sun is shining outside, and it has been hard to breathe up there at more than one occasion.

Vacation 2016 - Day 14, Part 5: Carcassonne, Part B

Another series of photos from Carcassonne. Nothing much to say about them, it is all very impressive and interesting!

Vacation 2016 - Day 14, Part 4: Carcassonne, Part A

We entered the city of Carcassonne from the canal area, and the old city is no less an impressive sight when you get closer.

A couple of street views of the 'lower' city. Very French, and very medieval!

I shall post more photos from Carcassonne very soon, but now I have to go prepare dinner!

Grooming the Tennis Courts

Today, before noon, Lea and were removing turf from the cement mini court outside the tennis courts here in Kværndrup.

The mini court had been sorely neglected the last many years, and an overhaul was long overdue!

We now need the lines painted up (Anna and I are mending the severely damaged net), and the court can be used again.

While we broke sweat, the clay courts were watered - it is very hot and dry here in Denmark this summer, and the tennis courts need lots of water for the surface to not disintegrate into loose sand.

June Sets Another Record

I would not have thought it possible, had anyone told me three months ago that May and June would see so many hits on this blog, but June saw even more hits than May, and I feel a bit humbled by it.

So, again, thank you all for viewing - it gives me a lot of motivation, which is sometimes much needed, when life, work, and family does not always 'click' as one would like it.

July is vacation time, so expect me to take a break from posting gaming stuff - instead I shall try to get my vacation reports up to date little by little (but this year's planned trip to northern France will probably set me back once more).
