My Newest Toy...

I have got a shiny new toy - and cannot get it to work!!! 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡

From I started unpacking I have been working on that blasted thing for about five hours - half of the time trying to figure out why it stops extruding filament after the first few layers, and trying different settings to mend it, without any results to show other than some thin stands of PLA...

I am deeply frustrated... 😫

Star Wars Legion. Getting Stuck In

I got the SWL core set delivered today, and was very delighted to find that the minis come unattached to the bases, as I want to use washers instead of the clumsy plinth FFG provide for this game. The vehicle/large bases can probably be fitted with one or more washers underneath to add weight and magnetic properties.

It will be a while until I have time to assemble and paint the minis, but in the meantime I shall get some practise games played using the pre-painted WotC plastic figures I collected some years ago.

I shall start with only two basic 'grunts' squads, and a commander for each faction (I have enough to add a third squad for both factions when I have learned the ropes, but for now I shall settle for two each), and I can start assembling the speeders and the AT-ST on the side.

The Emperor's finest, led by everybody's favourite Sith Lord, bringing order and peace to the Galaxy.

Rebel scum, harbingers of strife and chaos.
Furthermore, I am receiving a 3D Printer one of the next days, destined for creating some Tatooine-style buildings, and Imperial bunkers (if I can get it to work as intended, that is).

Outremer: Faith and Blood Arrived!

This also arrived while I was on vacation.

I am really looking forward to reading these rules, as they have character level development, just like traditional RPGs - but first I shall have to read Chosen Men to get some motivation for painting my... Chosen Men (Sharpe's Rifles).

More for the Nappies Collection

Well home from our vacation trip to Normandy and Brittany (and a short stop in Paris), I found a parcel from Osprey.

I now know what to spend the last days of the summer holidays on...

2018-07-02, Star Wars X-Wing: Introducing Michael to the Game

Last Saturday we had been invited to Glamsbjerg, and I brought X-wing to introduce Michael to the game.

I mocked up two forces without any upgrades, and we had a scrap. In the end, a lone A-wing fled the area with Darth Vader and a couple of TIEs securing the victory for the Empire.

Vacation 2016 - Day 15: Loire or Bust!

Most of the day after Carcassonne, we were driving north on the A10, from Toulouse, past Montauban, Brive-la-Gaillarde, Limoges, Châteauroux, and Vierzon, from where we took D926, then D940.

When closing on the Loire we passed through some small towns, and the architechture was now distinctively different from southern France.

In the Val de Loire, we found the Domaine les Bois du Bardelet camping site, and they could just squeeze our small camping trailer in on a tent site (last unoccupied spot on the site), so lucky us!

Vacation 2016 - Day 14, Part 9: Carcassonne, Part F

It was getting late in the afternoon, and we decided to find a place to eat in Carcassone - so out into the streets we went!

We chose Restaurant 'Le Grand Puits'. I do not remember what the rest of the family had, but my menu consisted of Foie Gras, Cassoulet, and Chocolate Icecream. The food took forever to arrive, I think we spent about three hours at the restaurant in all, but I found it very good (so good that I made Cassoulet the following winter - have to try that again, soon!).

Now follow some almost identical views of the city walls at sunset, with a different one in between.

Anna & Lea not fighting, for once...

We found this 'secret' stairway down from the old city. It is narrow and steep, and almost too much for Anna's knees.

A last impression of the old city of Carcassonne. We slept very well that night!

Vacation 2016 - Day 14, Part 6: Carcassonne, Part C

More pics from the impressive city of Carcassonne. I would not have liked to have to scale those walls!

Some kind of herb garden

Some pictures of a scale model of the fortifications. Anyone fancy a game? 😉

I had to make two attempts to get a passable photo of my family - wind and other tourists played tricks on me!
